Rachana Dahal is a prominent Nepali indie-rock and alternative singer, songwriter, and composer known for her raw emotional depth and thought-provoking lyrics. Born on June 8, 1997, in Kathmandu, she began her musical career in the Thamel music scene as a cover artist before transitioning to original compositions. She officially debuted in 2019 with the song "Bhumari," which explores themes of toxic relationships and mental health. Her music often addresses sensitive societal issues, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, and grief, earning her a reputation as a "rebellious" and authentic voice in the industry.
She has released several acclaimed singles, such as "Soch," "Sapanako Raja," "Daagbatti," and "Aagya." Her 2024 album, Janmadaag (meaning "generational curse"), further solidifies her style of blending Western rock influences with introspective, storytelling-driven melodies. Beyond recording, she is known for her creative stage presence and innovative projects, such as the "Show for the Blind," a multi-sensory concert experience produced in collaboration with other artists. She is the sister of Rochak Dahal, the frontman of the band Pahenlo Batti Muni, and she continues to be a leading figure for independent musicians in Nepal.
