Located in the heart of Kathmandu at Ranipokhari, Jamal, Bishwojyoti Cineplex is a landmark of Nepali cinema that bridges the golden past with a vibrant, modern future. Originally established as Bishwojyoti Hall in 2017 B.S. (1960 A.D.), this iconic venue has long been a cornerstone of Nepal’s film culture—screening classics like Kusume Rumal, Chino, and Darpan Chhaya, and once commanding nearly 50% of the national box office share.
In 2022, the historic hall was reborn as a contemporary multiplex, now housed on the 5th floor of Bishwojyoti Mall. The revamped Bishwojyoti Cineplex features two state-of-the-art auditoriums with a combined seating capacity of 290. Audi 1 offers 201 seats and a premium 3D experience powered by BARCO 2K Digital Projection and Dolby ATMOS sound, while Audi 2—with 89 seats—boasts Nepal’s first Laser Projector, delivering crisp visuals in an intimate setting.
Beyond its technical upgrades, Bishwojyoti Cineplex remains deeply rooted in its cultural mission. Named by Nepal’s literary icon Lakshmi Prasad Devkota, the venue continues to serve as a platform for both mainstream and independent cinema, celebrating storytelling in all its forms. Its slogan, “Servicing Lives With New Transformation,” reflects its commitment to evolving with the times while honoring its storied past.
