Today is a big day for Nepali cinema because three different movies are hitting the theaters at once. This usually happens around major holidays, and this time, the makers are targeting the Maha Shivaratri crowds. It’s a bold move to release so many films on the same day. Can all three survive the competition? It’s hard to say, but each one brings a very different flavor to the audience.

First up is Shivansh: Chapter 1, directed by Santosh Kumar Atreya. This one sounds interesting because it deals with a dark theme. The story follows criminal activities that happen under the guise of Lord Shiva. It’s a gritty concept that could attract younger viewers who like thrillers. Pravin Khatiwada and Tej Giri lead the cast along with Vimala Limbu and Risha Neupane. Anjan KC wrote the story, and the team claims they’ve made something with a unique taste.

Then we have Shree Bukuro: The Home Calling, directed by Sudip Bhupal Singh. Unlike the first one, this movie is a family drama. It stars Aashirwad Chhetri, Laxmi Giri, and Nikita Acharya. Actually, having a veteran like Laxmi Giri usually means the emotional scenes will be strong. Or at least, that’s what we expect from her. The script was handled by Pradeep Bhardwaj and Maunata Shrestha, who are well-known names in the industry. If you want to watch something with your parents this weekend, this might be the pick.

The third release is Bigul, directed by Ramesh Koirala. This film takes a different route by focusing on social and political issues. The cast is quite impressive with Benisha Hamal, Naren Khadka, and senior actors like Neer Shah and Ramesh Budhathoki. Political dramas can be tricky in Nepal. Sometimes they hit the mark, and other times they feel a bit heavy for a holiday weekend. But with such a strong lineup of actors, it definitely has a chance to grab attention.

It is always a risk when movies clash like this. Theater owners have to split the shows, and the audience gets divided too. At first, this looks like a great variety for the public, but the numbers usually show that one movie ends up dominating the rest. We’ll have to wait a few days to see which one the audience picks. This weekend will be a real test for these directors and their teams.
