Director Shovit Basnet is getting ready to go back behind the camera for a brand new project. Under the banner of Salon-Salina Films, this untitled movie is being presented by Krishna Thapa of A to Z Cleaning Suppliers (Australia). While the official title is still under wraps, the team has already locked in some big logistical details that show how ambitious this production is going to be.

The movie will be a unique blend of two very different landscapes. Director Basnet has revealed that 60% of the filming will take place in the scenic cities of Australia, while the remaining 40% will be shot in the rugged, beautiful terrain of Jumla, Nepal. It’s an interesting contrast—shifting from the modern streets of Australia to the remote high-altitude trails of Jumla. Can the story bridge these two worlds effectively? Usually, Shovit Basnet knows how to balance commercial appeal with local flavor, so the expectations are high.

Production Timeline and Team

The Tour First: Before the cameras roll, Shovit is leading the 'Comedy Darbar' team on a month-long tour of Australia starting March 20.

Filming Kick-off: The movie shoot will begin immediately after the comedy tour concludes in Australia.

Technical Crew: Saurav Lama is handling the cinematography, while Himal KC will direct the action stunts.

The Cast: The director plans to feature two heroes and two heroines. While the final names aren't public yet, one pair will be well-known industry stars, and the other will include familiar faces from his previous Australian project, PR (Permanent Resident).

Executive producer Nabin Ghayal and co-producer Himal Bhandari are currently finalizing the rest of the technical crew. This project marks a busy year for Salon-Salina Films, which has been quite active in the diaspora market lately.

Actually, Shovit Basnet’s strategy of filming in Australia has worked well for him in the past, especially with the "PR" theme that resonates so much with the Nepali community living abroad. Or at least, it helps in securing a strong international release. By adding Jumla into the mix this time, he seems to be trying to capture the hearts of both the local and global Nepali audience. We should have the official title and the full star cast within the next few days.
