Kathmandu — The upcoming Nepali film Lalibazar has unveiled its first song, "Mayalai Ke Diu Ma Baina," at a special event held in Kathmandu on Friday — and it is already generating warm buzz among audiences for its charming visuals and graceful performances.

The song features actress Swastima Khadka, actor Rabindra Singh Baniya, child actor Samaira Thapa, Mukunda Shrestha, and debutant Bishal Devkota. The standout highlight of the song is the captivating dance performance by Swastima and young Samaira, choreographed by Pradip Lama, which has quickly become the most talked-about element of the release.

The melodious track is sung by Deepika Byambu Magar and Khem Senchury, with music composed by Khem Senchury himself and lyrics penned by Ramesh Biji. Singer Deepika is no stranger to Nepali audiences — she previously won hearts with the widely popular song "Kashmire Pachhyauri Darjeeling Ko Rail."

Swastima Khadka's appearance in what is described as a role distinctly different from her usual on-screen presence has significantly heightened audience curiosity around the film.

Laalibazar was shot in Rajapur, Bardiya, and is directed by Yam Thapa, who also wrote the story. The screenplay and dialogues were co-developed by director Thapa and Pradip Bhattarai. The film is produced by Max Dipesh Khatri and Rabindra Singh Baniya, with Pradip Bhattarai serving as executive producer.

The film boasts an extensive technical team including creative director JB Ruwali, conflict director Samrat Basnet, cinematographer Sushan Prajapati, editor Mitradev Gurung, production head Rupak Pratap Adhikari, colorist Renish Fago, VFX by Samir Shrestha and Satyam Rana, background music and mixing by Rohit Shakya and Sailesh Shrestha, art director Umesh Chaudhary, publicity designer Royal Bhimsen (Trident), costume designer and stylist Janaki Kadayat, makeup by Kavya Thapa, and music by Prakash Saput, Khem Senchury, and Jayanje Waiba.

The ensemble cast includes Swastima Khadka, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Samaira Thapa, Mukundakumar Shrestha, Abhay Baral, Prem Pande, Asha Poudel, Govind Sunar, Aabha Aryal, Tara Sharma, Ramesh Badi, and Saraswati Adhikari, among others. Debutants Bishal Devkota and Prasangsha Subedi will also be making their silver screen debuts through this film.

Laalibazar is presented by Shatkona Arts and is set to release on Baisakh 18, 2083 BS, giving audiences something meaningful to look forward to in the new year.
