Kathmandu — The new Nepali film Behuli marked its official beginning on Thursday with a traditional prayer ceremony held at the Karya Binayak Temple in Lalitpur. Presented by The Divine Music and Samman Entertainment, the occasion was more than just a ritual — it was the start of what many in the industry believe could be one of next year's most talked-about releases. Along with the muhurt, the team also announced the film's shooting schedule and release date.
According to producer Arjun Pokhrel, cameras are rolling this very week, and the film is slated to reach audiences on Bhadra 12 — timed to coincide with the beloved festival of Haritalika Teej next year.
What makes Behuli particularly interesting is the journey of the man behind it. Arjun Pokhrel, a celebrated music composer who has gifted Nepali listeners dozens of hit songs over the years, is stepping into film production for the very first time with this project — while also handling the music direction himself. It's a bold new chapter for Pokhrel, and the industry is watching closely.
The film is directed by Sashan Kandel and written by Madhav Sharma — the same creative duo behind the successful Hostel 3. Their reunion on Behuli has already generated excitement among fans of their earlier collaboration. Pratap Rana serves as the film's producer.
Leading the cast is Paras Bam Thakuri, known by his screen name Coolboy, who made his debut in Hostel 3 and now steps into the role of the male lead. Opposite him will be actress Divya Raimajhi. Seasoned actor Sushant Karki, widely recognized for his powerful performances in films like Teen Ghumti, Sapana Timro Mero, and Suntalilai Bhagai Lagyo Jhilkele, also plays a key role in the film. The supporting cast includes Padam Tamang, Santosh Baniya, Sarita Giri, Lokendra Lekhak, Sabin Kattel, and Samayra Thapa Magar.
On the production side, Suman Thing Tamang serves as executive producer, with Durga Kharel and Ramesh Silwal as co-producers, and Shankar Koirala as creative producer. The film will be shot by cinematographer Narendra Mainali, edited by Bikas Dahal, and action sequences will be choreographed by Roshan Shrestha.
For distribution, Kafiya Films will handle the Kathmandu Valley, while Shree Venkatesh Entertainment takes care of regions outside the valley. Digital rights have been acquired by OSR Digital.
With a strong creative team, familiar faces, and a festival release on the horizon, Behuli is shaping up to be a film worth keeping an eye on.
