Kathmandu — The Nepali film calendar for Jestha 15 (Republic Day) just got more competitive. Action-love story Kumbha has announced its theatrical release on that date, releasing a new poster alongside the announcement. The date already has Roll No. 1 staking a claim, setting up a potential box office clash.

Kumbha is written and directed by Randhir Shrestha, who also handled the cinematography himself, drawing on his extensive background in music video direction and film cinematography to craft what the team promises will be a fresh experience for Nepali audiences.

One of the film's most distinctive features is its bilingual release strategy. Kumbha will be released in both Nepali and Hindi, with the international market firmly in mind — a relatively rare move for a Nepali production that signals ambitions beyond domestic screens.

The film was shot across locations in Nepal and South India, and features several South Indian artists alongside the Nepali cast, including South Indian actor Surendra Thakur. The Nepali cast includes newcomer Ashok Aryan, Srishti Khadka, Rohit Rumba, and Afsana Thapa in lead roles, with veteran actors Sunil Thapa and Sushil Pokhrel in key supporting roles.

The film is produced with investment from Randhir Shrestha and Rajesh Shah, with action direction by Sanjay Thapa. The first song from the film is set to be released this Friday, alongside the launch of its full promotional campaign.
