Kathmandu — Celebrated writer-director Rajbahadur Sane has marked a double occasion — Nepal's New Year and his own birthday — by officially announcing his latest film, "Gangaarani." The film, which will be produced under the banner of Aaha Films, promises a fresh love story exploring the emotional connection between a young man from humble origins and a girl from a wealthy family.

The announcement came alongside the release of a theme poster showing a young man carrying a guitar and a young woman leaning against a car — a visual shorthand for the economic and social contrast that will lie at the heart of the story.

Sane, who will handle both the writing and direction himself, has confirmed that principal photography is expected to begin by the end of Jestha, with casting and the technical team in the final stages of selection.

A filmmaker with nearly a dozen features to his name including Pathshala, Ladai, Lati, Vrindaban, Viranga, Doli, Good Friend, Silly Fo, Bulaki, Juna, and Citamol, Sane is no stranger to telling stories that connect with broad audiences. His screenplay for Bulaki earned him a National Film Award, and that pedigree has audiences watching Gangaarani with genuine anticipation.
