Kathmandu — Production has officially commenced on Zooba, a new Nepali film featuring Saugat Malla in the lead role. The formal muhurt ceremony was held on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a shoot that will span locations across Sarlahi, Kathmandu, and Rajasthan, India; giving the film an unusually wide geographical canvas.
The film is written and directed by Prakash Karna, with screenplay and additional writing by Barsha Paudel, who also serves as co-creative producer alongside the director. Produced by Rock Castle Studio and presented by Astra Films, the project arrives with a quietly ambitious profile.
Alongside Saugat Malla in the lead, the film stars Sudhan Pokhrel in his first-ever leading role, having previously appeared in two films in supporting capacities, and actress Sophie Dharel, who makes her acting debut through this film.
Three character posters were released alongside the production announcement, offering audiences early visual clues about the film's characters and tone.
