Kathmandu — The new Nepali film Akshara has officially commenced production with a formal script puja ceremony held Friday morning at Guheshwori Temple in Kathmandu. The muhurt shoot saw camera by Dinesh Mahra, roll by Shankar Maharjan, and action cut by Madhusudhan Bhattarai, with the clap given by Love Pyakurel and the coconut broken by Deepak Dangal.
The muhurt also confirmed one of the film's most exciting casting revelations: Sushil Sitaula — widely regarded as one of Nepali cinema's most underappreciated actors — has been signed for the lead role. He will be joined by Nancy Khadka, Sushil Pokhrel, Pushkar Raut, Rista Adhikari, Anshu Maharjan, Geeta Adhikari, Virendra Kushwaha, and Srijana Adhikari, with child actors Ronak Khadka and Prisa Dhungana also featured.
The film is directed by Binayraj Paudel in his feature directorial debut, after years of experience as chief assistant director on numerous Nepali films. Screenplay and dialogues are by Abhimanyu Nirawi, with editing by Gautamraj Khadka. The film is presented by Rajan Dulal, produced by Ugrasena Dhungana and Sugrasena Dhungana, and Suraj Thapakaji serves as executive producer.
