After a legal battle that left the film in limbo, Laalibazar is finally getting its moment on the big screen. The Patan High Court declined to extend the interim stay order that had been blocking its release, clearing the path for the film to premiere this Friday, Baisakh 25.
Producer Max Dipesh Khatri expressed relief and reaffirmed the film's intent: "We never made this film to hurt any community. It's a story about a mother and daughter — about a mother's struggle for her child." Director Yam Thapa echoed the same sentiment, confident that once people actually watch it, the controversy will fade away. Advance bookings are now open across theaters nationwide.
The film features a strong cast led by Swastima Khadka and Rabindra Singh Baniya, with debutants Bishal Devkota and Prasansa Subedi also making their screen debuts through this film.
