Kathmandu — The teaser of the upcoming dark comedy film Zero Degree has been released, and it has already generated significant buzz for two reasons: a wildly entertaining glimpse of its satirical premise, and the official on-screen debut of the title "Natural Star" for actor Bijay Baral.
The tag first began circulating among audiences and filmmakers following the success of Purnabahadurko Sarangi, in which Baral's understated, deeply felt performance stood out as one of the film's great strengths. Now, for the first time, the title has been formally incorporated into the film's promotional materials.
In the teaser, Vijay plays Ward Chairman Punya Chaulagain, a village local representative portrayed as cleverly corrupt and entertainingly self-important. One moment shows him accepting a bribe in his office; in another, he rides a horse with two fans strapped to his back. His costume and demeanor make the character immediately memorable.
The teaser also shows a group of exhausted villagers sitting around a large wooden box in a remote setting, with Vijay arriving on horseback, sharply satirizing the gap between the suffering of rural Nepali citizens without road access and the comfort of those in power. The film promises sharp social commentary wrapped in dark humor.
Directed jointly by Sajan Kafle and Aakash Baral, the film also stars Sanisha Bhattarai, Prakash Ghimire, Vasundhara Bhusal, Ramesh Budathoki, Lokendra Lekhak, and Rajan Bhusal, among others. Technical credits include cinematography by Nishal Poudel, editing by Chhannas Pun Magar, sound design by Sailesh Shrestha, color grading by Rajendra Moktan, and music by Ankit Babu Adhikari. Produced under Meghaulee Films, the film is targeting a Tihar festival release.
