Kathmandu — Jari 2: Song of Chhyabrung, one of last year's most commercially successful Nepali films, has officially arrived on Nepal's leading OTT platform, the Cinemaghara App. Released on Friday, the film is now available to viewers worldwide in HD quality at Rs. 199 and 4K quality at Rs. 299.
Written and directed by poet Upendra Subba, Jari 2 centers on the Chhyabrung, a traditional musical instrument of the Limbu community, weaving the story of a couple — Hangma and Namsang — through emotional ups and downs that also touch on the period of Nepal's armed conflict. The film is a sequel to Jari (2080 BS) and earned over Rs. 6 crore at the domestic box office.
The cast includes Dayahang Rai, Miruna Magar, Bijay Baral, Buddhi Tamang, Richa Sharma, Pushkar Gurung, Kamalmani Nepal, Anil Subba, and Rekha Limbu, among others. The film is presented by Bansuri Films and produced by Rambaabu Gurung, Madhu Mijar, and Jeevan Gurung.
The Cinemaghara App currently streams dozens of Nepali titles including 12 Gaun, Pitambar, Gaun Aako Bato, Boksiko Ghar, Prasad 2, Chha Maya Chhapakkai 4, Jhinge Dau, and Pashupati Prasad 2, among others, and is accessible on smartphones and smart TVs.
