Kathmandu — Veteran choreographer and filmmaker Raju Shah has returned to the director's chair after several years, launching the trailer of his new social drama "Jaad" at a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday. The film releases nationwide on Ashar 12.
The approximately three-minute trailer focuses on the uncontrolled consumption of jaad, a traditional homemade fermented beverage, and the ripple effects this has on individuals, families, and communities. The film is built around a social message that the production team hopes will spark genuine reflection among audiences.
The cast includes Ramesh Upreti, Subash Gajurel, Padam Gurung, Ramesh Adhikari, Kamala Dahal, Sanwi Khatiwada, Kiran Pratap KC, Laxmiprasad Timilsina, Manju Shrestha, Smarika Khanal, and Chandika Basnet, among others.
Raju Shah previously directed films including Khyal Khyalaima, Namaste Nepal, and Sapnako Nawlo Sansar, and also produced Muskan. Jaad marks his return to filmmaking after a period away. The film is produced by Sunilprasad Shrestha and Rajendra Shah, presented by Rajendra Bhatt, and produced under the banner of Sukuldhoka Media. Distribution is by NCGN Group with Moviiz Digital Entertainment Channel as digital partner.
