Dipendra Khaniya was a respected Nepali journalist and media entrepreneur, best known as the owner of Radio Audio FM. Throughout his career, he played a significant role in shaping Nepal’s radio broadcasting landscape, helping to expand the reach of independent media and provide accessible news and entertainment to local audiences. His work reflected the growing importance of private radio in Nepal’s democratic and cultural development. Tragically, on November 23, 2025, Khaniya was found dead in Baneshwor, Kathmandu, in circumstances that shocked the media community. According to police reports, he was discovered in a rented apartment on the fourth floor of a building he had previously sold, and his body was later taken to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for postmortem examination. His untimely death left a void in Nepali journalism, but his legacy as a pioneer in FM broadcasting and a recognizable voice in the media continues to be remembered.
