Saugat Malla is a renowned Nepali actor and producer, known for his versatility and powerful performances in the Nepali film industry. He was born on June 9, 1976, in Nawalparasi, Nepal, and began his acting career at Aarohan Gurukul, the first drama school in Nepal. There, he developed his skills through stage productions such as "Oedipus Rex" and "Agni Ko Katha," which provided a solid foundation for his film career.
Saugat made his film debut in "Kagbeni" (2008), directed by Bhusan Dahal, marking it as Nepal's first digital movie. However, he rose to fame with his portrayal of Haku Kale in the hit film "Loot" (2012), directed by Nischal Basnet. The film's success propelled him into the spotlight, and his character became a defining figure in Nepali cinema. He reprised this role in the sequel, "Loot 2" (2017), which further cemented his popularity.
Looking ahead, Saugat is set to star in the eagerly awaited film "Pitambar" (2025), directed by Krisha Chaulagai. The story revolves around a brave and strategic warrior, Pitambar, who faces numerous challenges from his childhood and embarks on a quest to dismantle the empire of wrongdoers in Parasi to restore his mother's honor. Throughout his journey, he uncovers shocking truths that test his resolve. The film boasts a talented cast, including Pradeep Khadka, Anup Bikram Shahi, Surakshya Panta, and Aryan Sigdel, and is slated for release on April 11, 2025.
Throughout his career, Saugat has delivered outstanding performances in films like "Kabaddi Kabaddi" (2015), "Soongava: Dance of the Orchids" (2012), "Chhadke" (2013), "Sadanga" (2015), and "Fateko Jutta" (2017). His talent for portraying complex and varied characters has garnered him critical acclaim and a dedicated fan following. In 2022, he appeared in "Kabaddi 4: The Final Match," which became the highest-grossing Nepali film of all time.
