The emotional family drama Aa Bata Aama is creating a massive "tsunami" at the Nepali box office. As of Sunday evening (February 15), the film has reached an impressive gross collection of nearly 9 crore rupees.
According to film distributor Rohit Kattel, the domestic collection crossed the 8.72 crore mark by Friday and touched the 9 crore milestone by Sunday evening. In just over two weeks, the film has defied all expectations, with daily collections actually increasing in the second week thanks to incredible word-of-mouth.
A Career-Defining Hit for Paul Shah
This movie is officially the biggest blockbuster of Paul Shah's career. While he has had hits like Mohar in the past, Aa Bata Aama has far surpassed his previous records.
The Comeback: After his last two films, Mayavi and Rawayan, struggled at the box office, this success has firmly re-established his status as a top-tier star.
Skyrocketing Demand: With Mohar and A Bata Aama both performing well, Paul Shah is currently the most in-demand actor in the industry.
Why is it a Hit?
Director Chandra Panta, who also wrote the story, seems to have hit the perfect emotional chord with the audience.
The Story: It explores the bond between a mother and her child, set against the backdrop of the struggles of rural life and foreign employment.
The Cast: The chemistry between Paul Shah and Usha Upreti, along with the strong presence of veterans Bipana Thapa and Pradeep Rawat, has made it a must-watch for families.
Actually, the film's success is a great sign for the industry, proving that heartfelt, grounded stories can outearn loud action movies if told correctly. With the current momentum, it is only a matter of days before it hits the 10 crore mark. Or at least, it’s going to be the movie to beat for the rest of the year.
