In anticipation of the upcoming general elections, cinema halls across Nepal will remain closed for three days. To facilitate the voting process for both staff and the public, major theaters will shut down on Falgun 20, 21, and 22, 2082 (March 4, 5, and 6, 2026).

QFX Cinemas, the country’s largest multiplex chain, officially announced the closure to encourage its employees to exercise their right to vote.

Key Details of the Closure

Closure Dates: Falgun 20 to Falgun 22 (Wednesday to Friday).

Primary Reason: To support the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5, 2026).

Service Impact: While all halls will be strictly closed on election day (Falgun 21), services on the preceding and following days (Falgun 20 and 22) will be partially affected in several locations as staff travel to their home districts to vote.

Official Advice: QFX has urged moviegoers to check their official app or website for specific showtime availability before visiting the theaters.

Currently Running Films

The closure comes at a time when several notable films are currently drawing audiences. These include:

Aa Bata Aama (आ बाट आमा): The box-office hit starring Paul Shah, which recently broke major records.

Rammita Koo Pirati (रमिताको पिरती): A popular youth-centric drama featuring Ana Sharma and Dhiraj Magar.

Parwasi Jeevan (परवासी जीवन): A social drama that has been gaining steady momentum.

A National Call to Vote

In their official statement, QFX Cinemas expressed their commitment to the democratic process:

"We encourage all our citizens and employees to participate in the voting process. Your vote determines the future of the nation."

Actually, it’s quite a significant move for the industry to shut down during a peak window like Friday, but given the "Future Forward" energy of this 2026 election, the industry seems to be prioritizing civic duty over box-office collections. Or at least, it ensures that the "Gen Z" audience, which is a huge part of the cinema-going public, is at the polling booths instead of the theaters.
