Kathmandu — The most anticipated musical moment from the upcoming Nepali film Malati Mangale has finally arrived. The film's title song, "Sunaiko Sapani," was unveiled at a special event, generating warmth and emotion among everyone present — and setting the tone for what promises to be one of the year's most heartfelt cinematic experiences.
The song features the voices of legendary singer and producer Ram Krishna Dhakal alongside popular singer Rachana Rimal, with music composed by Ujjwal Sagar and lyrics penned by Ananda Adhikari. Arrangements are by Udayraj Paudel. True to the film's spirit, the song carries the essence of a pure, simple rural love story — the kind that does not need wealth or grandeur to feel complete.
Lyricist Adhikari put it beautifully: "I tried to show how even the poor can love deeply. This is not a song of maya — it is a song of prem. Love that asks for nothing in return."
A Touching Moment at the Launch
The event's most emotional highlight came when producer Ram Krishna Dhakal gifted Ujjwal Sagar — the film's composer, who lives without the gift of sight — a guitar bearing his personal signature, as a gesture of respect and gratitude for the magic Sagar brought to the film's music. A visibly moved Sagar expressed how honored and excited he felt to be part of this team.
Singer Rachana Rimal also shared a heartfelt note, revealing that Dhakal had waited a long time specifically for her voice to be available for the recording. "I genuinely did not believe he would wait for me," she said, expressing both surprise and deep gratitude toward the producer.
Director Praku Pandey, making his feature film directorial debut with Malati Mangale, thanked Dhakal for believing in him from the very beginning. "The hard work of the entire team has produced something truly special — a film for the whole family," he said. Actress Barsha Raut echoed that sentiment, calling it a privilege to act in a film made by a personality of Ram Krishna Dhakal's stature.
About the Film
Producer Dhakal was also keen to clarify a common misconception: despite sharing a name with the celebrated lyrical drama by national poet Madhavaprasad Ghimire, this film has no connection to that work. "This is a social love story about the world around us — one that has not been told from this perspective before. It is not just a story; it is a musical love story," he said.
Malati Mangale stars Bijay Baral, Barsha Raut, and Maxam Gaudel in the lead roles, supported by an ensemble cast including Narin Thapa, Mansu Sapkota, Prakash Ghimire, Sarita Giri, Sushma Niraula, Sunil Tamang, Umesh Sunam, Shaku Shah, Suchitra Upreti, Dinesh Shahi, Rijan Pariyar, Tara Sharma, Geeta Shree, Raj Pangeni, Susmita Gurung, and Sagar Bhattarai, among others.
The film's technical team includes cinematographer Mahesh Paudel, editor Romi Mozes, colorist Krishna Bhandari, and sound mixer Dikesh Khadgi. The story is written by director Praku Pandey, with screenplay and dialogues by Sanyog Guragain. Digital distribution is handled by OSR Digital and theatrical distribution by RR Films.
Produced under the banner of Rani Films, Malati Mangale is set to release nationwide on Baisakh 25, 2082 (May 8).
