Kathmandu — The countdown to one of Nepal's most anticipated rural dramas has begun in musical style. Mitjyu, set to release on Jestha 8, has dropped its first song "Gairaghare Kainli", and it is already drawing warm attention for its folk sensibility and the charming on-screen chemistry it hints at between its lead pair.
The folk-flavored track features vocals by Shrikrishna Bam Malla and Melina Rai, with both the lyrics and music composed by Shrikrishna Bam Malla himself. Musical arrangements are handled by Shyam Shwet Rasaili. The song captures the emotions of young love, attraction, and devotion with a warmth that feels rooted and authentic.
The music video brings together the film's principal cast, featuring Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, Teriya Phounja Magar, Khadga Bahadur Pun Magar (Khabapu), Anu Thapa, Arun Pun Magar, Smita Lamichhane, and Shishir Wangdel, among others. The highlight of the video is the graceful and expressive dance performance by Saugat Malla and Teriya Fauza Magar, which strongly signals that the two share a romantic arc within the film. Choreography is by Mingma D. Lepcha.
Producer Janak Gharti Magar spoke about the song's place within the film's narrative: "We have included the song that the story demanded. We have made no compromises on either the audio or the video. I am confident audiences will love it."
The producer, who previously delivered the successful film Gharjamai, is equally optimistic about Mitajyu finding a strong audience response.
For Teriya Phounja Magar, who is also known as a dancer, Mitajyu marks her debut as a film actress, and her presence in the song's video has already caught the attention of viewers eager to see her on the big screen.
Mitajyu is directed by Anil Budha Magar and written by Mahesh Rai. The film is produced under the banner of GM Movies Production and features a supporting cast including Puskar Gurung, Shishir Wangdel, Raj Thapa, Suwarna Thapa, Uttam Raj Pande, Sabin Kattel, Umesh Sonam, Pawitra Khadka, and Chahana Rana Magar, among others. The technical team includes editor Lokesh Bajracharya, cinematographer Shishir Bishankhe, action director Prabhat Bisht, background score by Sailesh Shrestha, color grading by Kunal Sunuwar, and sound design by Mukesh Shah.
Set against a rural backdrop, the film explores the bonds of miteri kinship, a traditional Nepali social relationship of sworn friendship that carries the weight of family.
