Kathmandu — One of Nepal's most established voices in music is stepping behind the camera for the first time. Hari Lamsal, a singer and composer who has gifted Nepali audiences dozens of beloved songs over the years, has officially launched production on his debut feature film "Baa: Ek Yoddha", with shooting commencing on Monday following a formal puja ceremony at the Pashupatinath Temple premises in Kathmandu.

The film is being produced under the banner of Artistic Entertainment, with both the story and screenplay written by Lamsal himself. The transition from musician to filmmaker will naturally draw curiosity from industry observers and fans alike, and the early signals suggest this is a deeply personal project with something meaningful to say.

A Story About Fathers

The film's title and the theme of its poster together paint a clear picture of what Baa: Ek Yoddha intends to explore. At its heart, the film is a social drama about the quiet heroism of fatherhood in Nepali society. It will portray the sacrifices, struggles, and lifelong responsibilities that fathers carry on their shoulders for the sake of their children's futures, drawing from the realities of both rural and urban Nepali life. The "warrior" of the title is not a soldier but a father, and that reframing alone gives the project an emotional weight that is likely to resonate broadly.

A Cinematographer with a Blockbuster Track Record

One of the most exciting technical appointments on the film is its cinematographer. Shivaram Shrestha, who has shot some of the biggest and most critically appreciated Nepali films in recent years including Purna Bahadurko Sarangi, Boksiko Ghar, and the blockbuster Paran, will handle the visual side of Baa: Ek Yoddha. His involvement raises expectations considerably for the film's visual quality.

The film is produced by Basanta Lamsal, who previously produced Karma featuring actor Bipin Karki. Tara Nath Neupane serves as chief assistant director.

In a move designed to build suspense and excitement, the production team has deliberately withheld the names of the lead cast members, promising to reveal them as a surprise at a later date.
