Kathmandu — The first song from Priyanka Karki's debut production Masterni has been released, and the story behind it is as heartwarming as the song itself. Singer Durgesh Thapa composed, wrote, and recorded the track entirely at his own expense as a personal gift to Priyanka, who he considers a close friend.
The song was unveiled at a special event in Kathmandu on Tuesday, featuring vocals by Durgesh alongside Babina Kirati, with the music video also produced at Durgesh's own cost. The video features Durgesh Thapa, Priyanka Karki, Ayushman Deshraj Joshi, and Aryan Sigdel, with choreography by Pradip Lama.
Priyanka was visibly moved while describing the gesture: "This song is a gift from Durgesh ji. He created the audio and video entirely at his own expense. He is also joining the film's nationwide promotional campaign without any fee. This is enormous support for me and an unforgettable gift."
The friendship between Priyanka and Durgesh deepened following the popular song Dushman Hereko Herye, and his contribution to Masterni reflects that close creative bond.
Masterni is directed by Suvendhu Ghosh and releases on Bhadra 5. The film stars Priyanka Karki, Saroj Khanal, Gauri Malla, Aryan Sigdel, Bishal Pahari, Pramod Agrahari, Simran Khadka, and Anup Bikram Shahi, among others. Producers are Priyanka Karki, Cabinet Shrestha, Ayushman Deshraj Joshi, and Pranit Karki, with executive producers Director Simos Sunuwar and Suraksha Singh Malhotra.
