Rekha Thapa is a renowned Nepali actress, filmmaker, politician, and social activist, known for her impactful contributions to the Nepali film industry and her commitment to women's empowerment. Born on August 21, 1982, in Salakpur, Morang, Nepal, she gained recognition with her debut film "Hero" (2000), directed by Chhabi Raj Ojha. Throughout her remarkable career, Rekha has starred in over 200 films, many of which feature strong female leads and tackle important social issues.
Some of her most acclaimed films include "Kali," "Himmat," "Kasle Chhoryo Mero Man," "Bato Muniko Phool," and "Himmatwali." Often dubbed the "female hero" of Nepali cinema, Rekha is celebrated for her ability to carry films with her compelling performances. She has earned numerous awards, including the CG Digital Film Award for Best Actress and the NEFTA Film Award for Best Actress.
Beyond her film career, Rekha is actively engaged in politics and social initiatives. She joined the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) in 2013 but later transitioned to the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in 2016.
