The Nepali film industry is witnessing a fresh surge of energy as The Film Nepal ecosystem prepares for a busy production season. After a brief period of quiet, the buzz is back with over a dozen projects lining up for their principal photography. From social dramas and political satires to high-octane action thrillers and dark comedies, the variety of content currently in the pipeline promises a vibrant year ahead for cinema lovers.

As the nation concludes its election period, the industry is shifting from political discourse to creative execution. Here is a look at the major Nepali Movies preparing to go on floors.


Rekha Thapa Returns to Direction

One of the most anticipated highlights is the directorial comeback of superstar Rekha Thapa. After a hiatus of eight years, she is returning to the director’s chair with "Maya Bhanekai Yesto Hola".

Cast: The film features a powerhouse ensemble including legendary actor Madan Krishna Shrestha, along with three former Miss Nepals: Shristi Shrestha, Namrata Shrestha, and Niti Shah.

Status: Originally planned for late Falgun, the shoot was slightly pushed due to the elections. Rekha has confirmed that filming will now officially commence on Falgun 25.

The Story: Described as a triangular love story inspired by real societal events, the film aims to explore deep human emotions across generations.

The Return of a Blockbuster: ‘Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2

Following the massive success of the 2019 original, the sequel "Chha Maya Chhapakkai 2" is ready to roll.

The Team: A collaboration between Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niraula, and producer Rohit Adhikari.

Shooting Date: The team has announced they will go on floors in the first week of Chaitra.

Release Target: Keeping with tradition, the film is aimed for a Dashain 2083 release. While Deepak Raj Giri leads the cast, the team is expected to reveal more names soon.

Maha Jodi’s Next: ‘Shree Niwas

Following the success of Hari Bahadur ko Jutta, the dynamic duo of Hari Bansha Acharya and director duo Sajan Kafle & Akash Baral are reuniting for "Shree Niwas".

Cast: Hari Bansha Acharya and Abhishek Khadka will lead this project.

Details: Produced under the SM Motion Pictures banner, the film is written by Abhimanyu Nirabi and is currently in the final stages of pre-production.

Directed by Krisha Chaulagain, Paras marks a major action comeback for Nikhil Upreti. With a script by Bollywood’s Gangs of Wasseypur writer Sachin Ladiya, the film is expected to set a new technical standard for action in Nepali Movie Industry.
