The family drama Shree Bukuro: The Home Calling has officially pulled out of theaters just days after its release. National Cine Group, the film's distributor, announced on Tuesday that all screenings would be postponed starting Falgun 6, citing the current political climate and the upcoming national elections as the primary reasons.

With Nepal heading into major elections on March 5 (Phagun 21), the atmosphere is currently dominated by political rallies and security concerns. The production team feels that in such a tense environment, the audience's focus is naturally on the nation's future rather than on entertainment. They’ve decided to put the film on hold with a "Nation First" mindset.

New Launch Plan for 2083 BS

The makers aren't just shelving the film; they are planning a much bigger re-release.

New Release Date: Baisakh 18, 2083 BS.

Reason for Delay: To ensure a stable post-election environment where families can visit theaters without any stress or security fears.

Apology: The National Cine Group chairman, Deepak Dangal, issued a formal apology to the audience and theater owners for the sudden change in schedule.

About the Film

Directed by Sudip Bhupal Singh, who returned to directing after a long nine-year hiatus, Shree Bukuro features veteran actress Laxmi Giri alongside Aashirwad Chhetri and Nikita Acharya.

The Story: It’s a soulful tale about family values and the deep desire to return to one's roots (home).

The Struggle: Before the postponement, the film was released on Falgun 1 alongside other movies like Bigul and Shivansh. However, the election fever reportedly kept many viewers away from the halls.

Actually, Shree Bukuro isn't the only one feeling the heat. Other films like Kalli and Laalibazaar also pushed their dates back because they didn't want to compete with the 24/7 news cycle of the elections. At first, it seemed like the Falgun 1 holidays would be a goldmine for these movies, but the political reality proved to be much stronger. Or at least, it’s a safer bet to wait for the new year when people are in a more celebratory mood.
