Kathmandu — Nepal is set to make its mark on one of the world's most prestigious cinematic stages. The Film Development Board (FDB) of Nepal has confirmed that the country will have a dedicated pavilion at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, scheduled to take place from May 12 to 23 in Cannes, France.
The participation marks a significant milestone in Nepal's efforts to elevate its film industry on the global stage. The Film Development Board will formally represent Nepal at the festival with the primary goal of promoting Nepali cinema, fostering international co-productions, and connecting Nepali filmmakers with worldwide audiences, distributors, and collaborators.
The Nepal pavilion will be set up in collaboration between the Film Development Board and the Nepal Tourism Board, reflecting a joint commitment to showcasing Nepal not only as a filmmaking destination but also as a cultural and tourism hub.
Nepali filmmakers attending the festival on an individual basis will be welcome to utilize the shared booth to display their films, posters, trailers, and promotional materials to international audiences, distributors, and potential creative partners. This presents a rare and valuable opportunity for independent filmmakers and production houses to gain international visibility without the burden of setting up separate representation at the event.
Interested filmmakers and industry professionals are encouraged to coordinate directly with the Film Development Board to secure their spot and make the most of Nepal's official presence at Cannes 2026.
