Kathmandu — One of Kathmandu's most historic cinema halls has returned. Jai Nepal Hall reopened its doors on Friday with a special ceremony attended by filmmaker Nir Shah, Rabindra Khadka, and numerous other film industry figures.
The hall originally planned to mark its reopening with the screening of Laalibazar, but with that film under a temporary court-ordered ban, the management pivoted to launch instead with Raja Shivaji. The decision reflects the difficult ripple effects that last-minute film bans create not only for producers but for cinema operators as well.
The hall's reopening comes under new management. Previously operated by Quest Entertainment — the parent company of QFX — the hall was subsequently taken over by Buzz Entertainment, which is now bringing it back into operation.
Jai Nepal Hall offers a total of 306 seats across three pricing tiers: Rs. 800 for recliner seats, Rs. 500 for balcony, and Rs. 350 for standard seating.
